Design Discovery Awards (D&A) 2024特邀来自美国、中国、英国、意大利、加拿大、荷兰、挪威等11个国家共14位设计行业领袖组成奖项评审团，评审团成员包括Ruben Garcia Rubio & Sonsoles Vela Navarro(United States)、Niko Kapa（United Kingdom）、Misak Terzibasiyan（Netherlands）、Patrizia Burra（Italy）、Jean-Sébastien Bourdages（Canada）、Tao Chen and Jade Lee（China）等人。评审团从原创性、功能性、社会影响力及美学等12个维度出发进行作品评审，聚焦作品如何以创意回应时代命题，并为设计界提供可延续的灵感范式。

In 2020, PES-Architects won the competition to design the Nanchang Poly Culture and Art Center in South New City, China, near Jiulong Lake. The project is designed as a landmark cultural hub and a "local cultural living room" that offers diverse performances, including opera, theater, and music. Developed with local firms BIAD and ZNF, the center reflects PES-Architects' vision of creating functional, aesthetic, and timeless performing arts spaces by integrating natural and vernacular materials.

The center consists of three main volumes: a 1,600-seat opera house, a 450-seat multifunctional hall, and a culture center. These volumes are interconnected by a daylight-lit central passage inspired by traditional Chinese villages. This porous cube design ensures maximum flexibility, allowing each space to operate independently if needed. The central passage, clad in natural terracotta, serves as the functional and social heart of the center, connecting the theater to Jiulong Lake Park and commercial areas. It features windows that offer glimpses of ongoing activities and an internal plaza framed by shops, cafes, and exhibition spaces, supporting pop-up events and performances.

A standout feature is the ceramic veil, inspired by Jiulong Ceramics—a translucent ceramic art unique to the region. Composed of locally produced China-white ceramic bars, the veil wraps around the building, creating double-curved, ethereal exterior surfaces. This cable-suspended ceramic exterior was designed using advanced structural modeling, achieving a visually light and sustainable form. The veil lifts into a large-scale urban canopy at the main entrance, echoing cable-suspended bridges. The exterior contrasts white ceramic louvers with darker terracotta and bamboo, creating a striking visual effect.
